Arthur D. Little launches Global Carbon Advisory Service

Today Arthur D. Little (ADL), the global management consulting firm, launches a dedicated
Global Carbon Advisory Service (GCAS). The service will strengthen the
leading-edge capabilities of the firm's Industry and Functional
Practices and consolidate some 40 years experience in advising clients
in climate change, sustainability and the carbon agenda. Arthur D.
Little's GCAS will help clients take a broad view of carbon issues,
from value creation through to addressing risk and step-changes in
customer requirements.

The announcement follows the launch of the new Bloomberg, Carbon
Winners Equity Index, by - E. Capital Partners (ECPI), the financial
investment advisory firm. ADL worked with ECPI to develop the index
and calculate the carbon intensity ratings (carbon emissions over
turnover) for the selected companies. The findings of this research
reveal that less than 20% companies out of the selected 1000 published
defined targets for the reduction of carbon emissions. Carbon Winners
companies are performing 20% better than the average as monitored by
Bloomberg (see accompanying graph).

Richard Clarke, Global Head of Sustainability and Risk, said:
"Whilst valuation and market analyses as provided by the new Carbon
Winners' Equity Index address how dealing with carbon emissions
affects a company's bottom line, we also recognise that companies need
to take into account the value of technology and innovation in dealing
with sustainability issues. The launch of our GCAS service underlines
our commitment to help clients assess future market values whilst
facing the risks and step-changes needed to meet customer
requirements."

The findings of the Carbon Winners' Index and the launch of this
global service reinforces the work behind ADL's recent sustainability
publication, 'The Sustainability Value Formula', which examines how
leading companies are building long-term sustainable performance
through an intense focus on integrity and innovation.

The GCAS launch will consolidate the support ADL already provides
to clients with a range of pragmatic solutions to carbon related
issues. Recent examples include: Benchmarking strategies and
approaches for carbon management across the chemical industry;
supporting a multi-national manufacturing conglomerate in development
of its carbon management strategy and management system; helping a
company investing in low-carbon technologies to identify opportunities
for investment through a review of the patent landscape. Further
