The High Commissioner of the Spanish Brand, Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, has used the government's name to create a private fund that big Ibex companies are paying for. Espinosa de los Monteros, while taking advantage of the Spanish Brand, has been dealing with representatives from the banking sector (Banco Santander, BBVA, Banco Popular and Caixabank), energy sector (Endesa and Iberdrola) and consumer products (Zara).
This is wha the said in a letter to the companies. The High Commissioner has asked them and other business owners for 200,000 euros to create a new body that will be 100% private, but backed by the government. With good judgment and tired of multiple organizations that do the same thing, some companies are not wanting to play this game. It's a dangerous game to create an organization whose only goal is dubious, because there are already enough government departments promoting the Spanish brand outside our borders. This scheme from the High Commissioner is surprising, becuase it comes at a time when the government is trying to cut back on operational expenses.
Still, the new entity could be managed such that Carlos Espinosa can make up for the money that was loaned at the cost of creating a viscious circule of favors and obligations, the need for mediators whether they are companies or government officials. At the end of the day, right now we cannot afford to duplicate efforts when the government is trying to trim the fat.
