Navantia is receiving a needed boost from the government, which has contracted the naval construction company to build a 350-million euro warship. Cristóbal Montoro has announced that the financing will be handled through the Ministry of Industry, which means that the ship could be sold on the international market.
The project will allow the company to start operating again, and business could continue if it wins a bid for Gas Natural's fifth well. Still, Navantia has to go at it alone. Pumping money into the company reeks of electoral politics considering that ordinary citizens are being asked to make countless cutbacks.
