Finance Minister Cristóbal Montoro and power companies signed an agreement yesterday that will raise a lot of eyebrows.
The Ministry of Finance is interested, because power companies promised to cut funding to companies in front of the Supreme Court. Power companies are interested because the Ministry has promised to pay them the 3.6 billion euros that it owes them for 2013 invoices.
And last but not least, consumers are interested because the handshake agreement could reduce threats of a price increase to power bills in the near term and make them believe that energy reforms can proceed without further delays.
