Not every sector of the Spanish economy is going poorly. Tourism and exported goods are still going strong despite general difficulties in the country.
The government's 2012 predictions for the tourism sector are encouraging. The number of foreign tourists is expected to jump by 4% (58 million) and corresponding profits from increased tourism activity will rise by 9% (56.5 billion euros). Both figures are historic highs that also show how domestic vacationing has decreased since the crisis began.
The tourist industry employers' organization said that despite the fact that fewer Spaniards are traveling, companies have been able to assume 76% of revenues created by the VAT increase and kept employment high.
