Drivers to pay ten kinds of car taxes

The Ministry of Public Works is thinking about levying a new transportation tax on public highways, which would equal between 40 and 70 euros per year for drivers. If the proposal goes forward, it would be the tenth tax that drivers have to pay. Drivers currently pay upward of 24 billion in taxes annually.

Not only are we looking at a socially unjust tax, but also one that penalizes car sales and car manufacturers in Spain, which produces the second-highest number of cars per year next to Germany.

For these reasons, the government should give their tax policy another attempt, paying close attention to taxes on automobiles so that they are more efficient and logical.
