One week ago Patxi López held elections in the Basque country, and yesterday Galician congressman Alberto Núñez Fejóo approved dissolving Galicia?s congress. Both events pushed up elections by six months and were caused by pressures from Spain?s ailing economy.
López mentioned a lack of congressional support in pushing necessary reforms as a main reason. We are reminded of Basque?s failure to carry out required reforms, even though Galicia?s accounts are cleaner than those of other regions. López, who spoke with Rajoy yesterday to see if it is best for the Peoples Party to wait until March for the next elections or push them forward to this Octuber.
