After, the President and the Vice President will meet with Secretary of State Clinton in the Oval Office.

In the afternoon, the President will travel to Columbus, Ohio. While in Columbus, the President will visit the Fort Hayes Arts and Academic High School to highlight his American Jobs Act proposal to put workers back on the job by rebuilding and modernizing schools across the country.

The American Jobs Act proposes a $25 billion investment in school infrastructure that will modernize at least 35,000 public schools ? investments that will create jobs while improving classrooms and upgrading our schools to meet 21st century needs. While at Fort Hayes Arts and Academic High School the President will tour a newly modernized graphic design classroom. After, the President will deliver remarks

Stateside, corporate earnings are thin with Best Buy(BBY) well ahead of the field in terms of importance, trailed by names like Bakers Footwear, Cracker Barrel, and Majesco Entertainment.

The economic data calendar on Tuesday features export and import prices at 8:30 a.m. ET, the weekly Redbook chain store sales survey at 9 a.m. ET, and the Treasury Department's budget for August at 2:00 p.m. ET.

There's also the small-business optimism index for August from the National Federation of Independent Business at 7:30 a.m. ET. Ian Shepherdson, chief U.S. economist at High Frequency Economics, sees a dip down to 88 for the month from 89.9 mostly because of the recent stock market turmoil.
