Communist seen winning Cyprus vote

NICOSIA (Reuters) - Communist party leader Demetris Christofias was set to win the Cyprus presidential race on Sunday, an exit poll showed.

A poll by the Pulse polling company for the state CyprusBroadcasting Corporation put Christofias at 50.8 percent of thevote and Kassoulides at 49.2 percent. Other exit polls alsoshowed Christofias in the lead.

Both men say they will revive efforts to unite the dividedisland where Greek Cypriots, who voted on Sunday, live in thesouth and Turkish Cypriots in the north. The island's divisionis a major obstacle to Turkey's European Union aspirations.
