Wall St. futures slide further on jobless claims

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stock index futures extended losses on Thursday as a government report showed a surprise jump in the number of people filing for jobless benefits in the latest week, heightening worries about the labor market and the economy.

S&P 500 futures fell 15.20 points and were below fair value, a formula that evaluates pricing by taking into account interest rates, dividends and time to expiration on the contract. Dow Jones industrial average futures fell 135 points and Nasdaq 100 slid 21 points.

The specter of deterioration in the underlying economy added to investor unease as Wall Street frets about the fate of a $700 billion bailout expected to be voted on again by the House of Representatives on Friday.
