Germany to scale back CO2 emissions cuts for coal plant operators: document

BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany plans to force coal plant operators to reduce their CO2 emissions by 2020 by less than previously planned, according to an economy ministry document seen by Reuters on Monday, bowing to opposition from within the industry.

The government will now require coal plant operators to cut their emissions by 16 million tonnes, compared to a previous target of at least 22 million tonnes, the document showed.
