NEW YORK (Reuters) - Specialty glassmaker Corning Inc saw its profit and revenue rise in the fourth quarter, helped by strong sales of its scratch-resistant product known as Gorilla Glass, which is a component in smartphones.
Revenue rose 4.7 percent to $1.602, from $1.53 billion a year ago.
Fourth-quarter net income rose to $1.044 billion, or 66 cents a share, up from $740 million, or 47 cents a share a year earlier.
Its shares fell 1.2 percent to $19.40 in premarket trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
