HOUSTON (Reuters) - BP Plc started a critical "static kill" on its blown-out Gulf of Mexico well on Tuesday afternoon, the company said.
Positive results of a test earlier in the day to gauge how well the static kill might work prompted BP <:BP.LO:>to forge ahead at 3 p.m. CDT (2000 GMT).
"The aim of these procedures is to assist with the strategy to kill and isolate the well, and will complement the upcoming relief well operation," BP said.
