Dalian Port says all facilities resume operations

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Dalian Port has resumed operations of all its terminal and ground facilities, it said on Thursday, nearly two weeks after a fire and oil spill forced the closure of most of the port's berths.

The No. 0 berth, which handles crude oil and has a designed berthing capacity of 300,000 dead weight tonnage (dwt), resumed operations on Wednesday evening, and all terminal and ground facilities also resumed operations, the port said in a filing with the Hong Kong bourse.

It said its new No. 22 berth, which will handle crude oil and has a designed berthing capacity of 450,000 dwt, would be put into trial operation in the near future.

Dalian Port said earlier it had resumed operations at two of its oil berths and that its main 300,000 tonnage berth was expected to reopen soon.

Refinery operations have been disrupted and cargoes diverted since a pipeline explosion and fire hit the Xingang port during a tanker offloading on July 16, spilling 1,500 tonnes of crude into the sea to leave a slick covering 183 sq km (71 sq miles).
