NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Dow industrials and the S&P 500 opened higher on Friday after Citigroup said it did not need any more government capital infusions.
Profit taking in technology stocks kept the Nasdaq near break even.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 28.11 points, or 0.39 percent, to 7,198.17. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 2.90 points, or 0.39 percent, to 753.64. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> dropped 1.21 points, or 0.08 percent, to 1,424.89.
