Echenique threatens Finance Ministry with resignation

Leopoldo González-Echenique, CEO of RTVE, has threatened to resign today if the Ministry of Finance does not pump another 130 million euros into the public television station to help balance its budget. He says that the company has been "crippled by cutbacks." What he is not saying is that in four years of poor management, he has squandered over 1.5 billion euros of taxpayer money

And racked up 700 million in financial losses in six years. And went on vacation before balancing the budget. In a desperate move, Echenique is trying to silence the press pundits who are criticizing some of his decisions. But this is blackmail, and it will not fix the gaping hole that his management has dug. The Finance Ministry cannot afford to keep looking the other way and should put an end to Echenique's management now.
