The price of power bills in July jumped 17.8% in Spain since last month. The increase was only supposed to be 16% for the entire third quarter while tariffs rose at the same time.
Although power bills should go down around 7% on the year thanks to energy reforms, the government has still not regulated prices. Meanwhile, the markets are deciding who pays what based on factors such as supply and demand or renewable energy production. Spain is having its worst quarter of the year. High prices are expected again this quarter, which is something we should think about when cranking up the air conditioners.
