Regional Peoples' Party leaders are rebelling against Montoro's strategy for regional government financing. They accuse him of weak reform plans that endanger public services by slashing their revenues.
They also blame Montoro for creating a tax reform that doesn't actually lower taxes as promised and taxes the majority of PP constituents. Regional politicians are gearing up for elections in May, but the government will not yield. This tax reform is by all signs not enough. The measures that Rajoy is taking should be ruled out for economic reasons alone, not just electoral politics.
