Confirmed: Spain is creating jobs

Without getting self-satisfied, Spain can celebrate another positive month for employment. Unemployment filings fell by 122,684 people and Social Security filings were up 56,622.

But the government still had to dip into the Social Security system's savings fund in order to pay pensioner their bonus. Industrial jobs are up for the first time in year-to-year numbers, and this trend should continue as people start to get higher-quality jobs. We'll have to wait until the fall (after the summer tourism job season) to see if that happens. The national government should reconsider lowering Social Security contributions in order to help speed the job growth.
