Spain opens door to Mexico from EU

The relationship between Spain and Mexico could not be better following the Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto's visit to Europe. At least this is the opinion of the business owners who stood beside Nieto during his visit and Spanish companies such as Iberdrola that are going to invest significant funds and labor into Mexican infrastructure projects.

Garardo Gutiérrez Candiani, president of Mexico's employers organization, told elEconomista that the fluid relations between big companies on both sides of the Atlantic can produce big things. Small firms in Spain also have opportunities. After big investments in energy and infrastructure, the smaller companies can focus on specialized maintenance, technology services or parts that all serve to keep these big projects running. Relations between Spain and Mexico now hinge on 21 agreements that were signed during Nieto's visit. These agreements will boost economic growth in both countries.

As a result, Mexican investments are penetrating Europe through Spanish borders. After deep labor reforms, our country has increased its competitiveness and looks prepared to tackle global projects in the near future. These ventures in Mexico are critical for Spain, because we have a chance to jumpstart our economy while helping theirs. Ideally, both nations will make the most of their new commercial alliance.
