France deals with its deficit

President Francois Hollande has named Manuel Valls as the new Prime Minister of France. Hollande wants to address the nation's ailing economy, and he has tasked Valls with the job. Yesterday members were named for a new Cabinet, which splits how France will govern its economy into two bodies -- Economy and Finance.

The cabinets will perform distinct but complementary roles in an effort to balance France's budget and regain citizens' support. There is a new opportunity to energize a weakened economy that, if the budget cannot be balanced, could go back into a recession. Valls is Hollande's last card, but the President trusts that Valls can enact the reforms that France needs.
