More new jobs than layoffs in Spain

The year began with the news that Spain had more new jobs than layoffs in December, which is the first time this has happened since the crisis began. The figure suggests that the worst has passed.

The number of companies who register with Social Security reached 1.3 million in November 2013, which is a 0.51% increase since the same month of last year. This is the first year-to-year increase since the crisis began and is heavenly music to all considering that around 180 companies closed daily for the past several years.

Still, companies that are too small to compete, use complex and inefficient financing methods and struggle to access credit markets will continue to struggle as we enter an economic recovery.
