The EU is not satisfied with Rajoy's optimism. Yesterday, the Ecofin looked toward Spain in hopes that the nation does not forget to go the extra mile with its labor, tax and public sector reforms.
The EU fears that Prime Minister Rajoy and his office will abandon their tasks as elections approach. Although the EU knows that Rajoy is heading in the right direction and that his efforts to date are having a positive effect, they believe that it would have better to wait until finalizing reforms before relaxing and calling the work done.
The government should take note and finish pending reforms, and the EU should refrain from extoling its own work.
