Big companies speak out against taxes, national government

José Miguel Isidro, CEO of the Spanish packaging company Europac, wants the national government to do something about the impact of power sector reforms on regional government accounts and a heavy tax burden on large Spanish companies.

Isidro's criticism escalated in tone when addressing the unethical behavior that permeates the national government, which is taking in as much tax revenues as possible without making adjustments for a changed economic climate. The packaging company CEO twisted the knife when he called for a swift restructuring of Spanish government. National leaders have delayed this overhaul inexplicably. He also advises that zealous taxation is suffocating companies, limiting their ability to invest and slowing job creation that is necessary to jumpstart domestic consumer spending.
