Picking a new Fed Chairman: a hard choice for Obama

This autumn Barack Obama is facing the most difficult decision of his term in office: naming the person that will replace Ben Bernanke as the Chairman of the Federal Reserve. This person will be responsible for managing the 85 billion dollars that the United States central bank pumps in the to the US economy every month.

The two candidates are both qualified and experienced professionals. Janet Yellen, who would be the first woman Fed chairman ever, is focusing her attention on growth and jobs.

Larry Summers is Wall Street's favorite. He is close to President Obama, but can be somewhat imprudent in his speech and manner. Obama's decision will not only affect the US economy, but also the euro zone and the rest of the world.
