Spain loses some economic liberties

It is no accident that countries that did not undergo a crisis are enjoying the most economic freedom today. Hong Kong and Singapore top an index unveiled yesterday by elEconomista that measures 2012 Global Economic Liberty. Latin America also showed very positive signs of growth and development.

Finland was the only euro zone nation not seriously affected by the continent's widespread economic crisis. All other euro zone nations and the United States have lost economic freedoms. In Spain, increased regulation and mistrust in its private and public institutions have caused us to drop eleven places on the global index. It is clear that in order to start growing again, Spain needs to provide companies with more incentives and increase these economic liberties.
