Spain following California's lead, tourism nation's biggest industry

New numbers confirm that tourism has topped historic records this year. According to Frontur, 6.3 million travelers crossed Spain's borders in June and 26.1 million traveled there in the first quarter.

That shows that supply is matched with demand, which increases the national tourism industry compared to other vacation hot spots in the Mediterranean. Tourism is Spain's number one industry, and business owners in the sector have figured out how to adapt and reposition their businesses during a deep economic crisis. Their flexibility has allowed them to survive.

Now is a good time to let a thriving tourism industry fuel other business sectors, which California has done successfully in the United States, for the entire year and not just the summer vacation system.
