Regional governmens to lower taxes

More than half of Spain's regional governments are ready to lower taxes or apply exemptions in order to counter the effects of Montoro's new tax policy. Most of them are governed by the Peoples' Party, and in line with the party's electoral campaign they have announced efforts to ease the tax burden on their constituents.

Regional government leaders known that regional elections will happen in two years -- but voters will only be able to benefit from proposed tax deductions for one year before they cast their votes.

So PP leaders are at odds with the Finance Ministry in their efforts to lessen the effects of Montoro's continual tax hikes, which have failed to increase overall revenues, incidentally.
