Six days after a scandal erupted about Princess Cristina's national identity card and property sales, Finance Minister Montoro has yet to provide a convincing story about what he called a faulty administrative procedure that led to confusion, intrigue and an investigation of King Juan Carlos's youngest daughter.
The public still doubts whether the fiasco resulted from an actual administrative error, a chain of events that questions Princess Cristina's reputation or simply a new chapter in the corruption story related to her husband Iñaki Urdangarín.
Following in Rajoy's footsteps, Cristóbal Montoro has chosen to not give a public response concerning the issue and to sit quite in hopes that the issue will die down. But his own reputation is in jeopardy, questioning whether he is the man to lead Spain's tax reform program.
