Soraya gains more power over Spanish economy

After recently being named vice president of the Government Commission of Economic Affairs, Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría has extended her power by also being named president of the National Security Council.

This government body is expected to draft a bill within six months to create an Economic Inteligence System (SIE following the Spanish acronym) for Spain.

The system is a way to develop economic security and counterintelligence. Originally these objectives were covered under the Entrepreneur Law, which was the wrong place for it. Fortunately, they will now fall under the oversight of the executive branch. In addition to fixing the error, the decision to create the SIE also eliminates possible suspiciouns among economic ministers.
