How Iberia can elude a government intervention

Iberia has less than than a month to carry out most of its restructuring plan, which initially considered cutting 4,500 jobs. With the Spanish government following the process very closely because of its interest in the nation's tourism industry, not to mention pressures added by the International Airlines Group (IAG), Iberia management should come up with a plan that trims losses, guarantees sustainability and points toward future growth.

Although the government is preparing safeguard clauses to limit the reach of the cuts, it would be best for Iberia to play the negotiation agreements that it has on the table right now in an effort to continue growing in the regions that it operates in and knows best.
