The employers organization Foment del Treball held a meeting of Catalonian businesses yesterday to collaborate and make the most of work being done by businesses in the region. The conference's motto, "We're going to work," was not liked by Pimec or the Chamber of Commerce, which interpretated it as a call to nix favoritism and settle a problem that has become a daily concern for citizens.
Pimec, which gets funding from the Catalonian government, did not attend the conference in protest. There is no reason that a employers organization that represents small- and medium-sized businesses (so-called pymes in Spanish) should put their political interests before the interests of their constituents.
