Ryanair to pay Social Security for pilots, flight attendants

The new rule in Europe that coordinates Social Security systems, in use since May 22 of this year, forces airline companies to pay social security to pilots and flight attendants working for all airline companies with bases in Spain.

The measure particularly affects Ryanair, not just because it is the most well-established intenrational airline in Spain, but also because of its recently increased labor costs. The application of the new labor law means that Ryanair will be re-routing some employee earnings to the public coffers in addition to equalizing the playing field that has until now favored the Irish airline.
