Repsol and EDP have teamed up to build the biggest marine wind plant in the world. Investment in the project will total 5.6 billion euros. It will be located on the coast of Scotland and cover 296 square kilometers and generate enough energy to power a million homes.
What company ends up investing in the project is very important not only because it is a massive investment, but also because of the impact that it will have on the amount of energy supplied and the vote of confidence it will bring for renewable energies.
The project will help the United Kingdom meet the EU's goal for countries to get 15% of all energy from renewable sources by 2020. The project will generate thousands of jobs and create new types of positions for the Scottish economy.
