Tax Referendum in Catalonia?

With the arrival of the August heat, the Catalonian government has started up its recurring campaign to regain fiscal independence. This time the region is trying to involve its entire population. The issue has become increasingly controversial now that there is a threat of a public referendum if negotiations with the capital fail, copying the search and destroy strategy that labor unions tried to employ a few days ago.

This move is an attempt to excuse the Catalonian government?s poor job of managing its economy, asking the national government for aid and masking Catalonia?s leaders fear of making sensible cuts to public sector jobs at the regional television station or highways, for which privatization is pending.
