The bill put in front of the courts to strengthen the battle against illegal underground labor and Social Security fraud is an important step toward putting a stop to the trickery that companies use to elude their tax obligation.
From now on, companies guilty of fraud will have to think twice about their actions, because a new law will raise the maximum prison sentence from 1-5 years to 2-6 years.
That said, the law should be enforced adequately, most of all by inspectors from the Ministry of Finance, who are obsessed with meeting their quotas and sometimes put undue tax pressure on companies. The bill should serve to increase tax revenues and promote the tax amnesty law.
