In addition to small toll charges now being charged on Spanish highways and the imminent price hikes to gasoline and the VAT that the government is considering, the cost of butane canisters could also go up. The Cabinet will discuss the measure today.
The increase will likely be 5.8% to 16.40 euros, but a recent ruling from the Supreme Court could push the price even higher to 18 euros per canister, or a 19% increase.
The Ministry of Industry will make the final decision, and in an attempt to avoid further increases to the cost of living for middle-class citizens, the Ministry could find a way to put off the decision until a later time.
This would be a legal ruse, and citizens are likely to look favorably on it.
