Adiós to the old vacation policy

Civil servants and other government employees are now getting fewer vacation days. They are going to lose extra paid days off that workers now receive after completing 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of government service. Further, during the summer they aren't going to get jornada intensiva, a customary practice during the hot summers where workers skip the traditional midday break. The work schedule at 8:00am to 3:00pm from June 16 to September 15.

The bill looks like a sensible measure to eliminate schedule differences among workers and to avoid strange situations that sometimes arise. For example, when civil servants get nearly two months of paid vacation. Cutting inefficiencies and absenteeism will help to reduce the deficit.

Ultimately, the measure provides major benefits for taxpayers and civil servants who do good work.
