elEconomista.es ranks #3 among worldwide online business websites

Success has a simple formula: do your best, and people may like it. After launching six years ago, elEconomista.es has not only become the leading financial website in Spain and Latin America, but also ranks among the three major financial and business websites around the world. According to comScore´s latest review, in April, Editorial Ecoprensa's website ranked third among the main business newspapers worldwide, only behind The Wall Street Journal in United States and the online edition of the british Financial Times.

Once again, Ecoprensa´s online adventure confirms an unstoppable growth not only in Spain and other Spanish speaking countries but also around the globe. elEconomista´s brand is poised to outperform other well known competitors like Germany's Handelsblatt.com, LesEchos.fr in France or Italy's IISole 24Ore.com, according to comScore's latest data.

When it comes to analyze the competitive environment where elEconomista.es has become a main player, it is fair to realized that other companies have access to wider markets and bigger audiences. Still, Editorial Ecoprensa´s website has achieved an unbeatable success in a relatively short period of time compared to others.

As a matter of fact, since 1999, Handelsblatt has become a regular contributor to Dow Jones Newswires, owned by The Wall Street Journal, which gives access to Handelsblatt online edition to the vast network of the American giant. Despite such a big advantage, Germany´s main economic and financial newspaper ranks 8th among the Top 10 financial news websites worldwide, according to comScore. LesEchos.fr, the main economic, financial and stock market source of information in France ranks in fifth position while the Italian, IISoleOre.com, also stays behind elEconomista.es.

Last month, elEconomista.es achieved another milestone after surpasing 6.5 million unique users a month according to Spain´s OJD, a tracking consultancy firm that officialy measures audiences among Spanish media.

Permanent innovation

elEconomista's focus on innovation, with the launch of a modern and sophisticated services network coupled with a tireless commitment to the highest quality of journalism, are some of reasons that explain its success not only in Spain but in the international arena.

Lately, elEconomista has signed an agreement with Mediaset Spain, the country's most popular broadcast network, to provide deep on air and real time economic analysis. The proposal is aimed to explain the economic crisis to citizens, increasingly aware of how important is to understand the turbulence hitting the financial markets.
