Some people argue that government reforms in healthcare, education, transportation or infrastructure are designed to do away with the welfare state model and that successfully doing so would be a social triumph.
It's true that spending is being cut and an unsustainable model cannot last forever, but it's also true that Spain's program of reforms is aiming to manage public services using ideas and labor from the private sector.
We must get the same results with higher efficiency, more savings and more streamlined methods and staffing. The private sector is already demonstrating that it can make a significant contribution to public services.
