Op-ed: Time to improve the Entrepreneur Law

The Entrepreneur Law, which the People's Party promised to enact in its electoral campaign, will now be postponed until at least May 20. The law will include improvements that facilitate job creation: deductions on the amount of Social Security contributions that workers older than 45 years old have to pay.

Tax benefits are limited to payments pending with the Tax Agency, similar to how the VAT payments will only apply for those who have contracts with Public Administrations.

Further, the Ministry of Finance could gain more tax control over the self-employed. There is still time to improve the law, which will help meet the public's expectations.
