CCOO and UGT lose support, Bañez says reforms will fall flat

No rationale and little backing. Twice in the last year and a half, Cándido Méndez and Fernández Toxo have run smack into the reality that the workers they represent what the reject are the methods and actions of the labor unions that represent them.

Minister of Employment Fátima Báñez has emphatically voiced the following threat: "The central and fundamental parts of the labor reform are not going to change."

"The Government's reformist agenda is unstoppable because its goal is to deliver Spain from the crisis and put it on a path toward economic growth and job creation," the minister said yesterday in Congress. Previously, she had mentioned that the strike day was developing "absolutely normal and without significant events," emphasizing that basic services were ?operating perfectly."
