Op-ed: Recreate the regional government system

The Spanish government has a unique opportunity ahead that it should not let fall to the wayside: to recreate the way that Spain's regional government system operates. At this time national and regional governments have the same party majority, which could facilitate conversations and agreements about complicated policies and laws.

After more than 30 years of democracy in Spain since the Franco regime, the Spanish government has a chance to revise the aspects of governance that proved to be ineffective or undeveloped.

In some cases it is essential to cut the total number of positions and avoid redundancy in the job services offered at Spain's three levels of public administration. This is a reform that the government should not pass up, because it would be fundamental to optimizing the efficiency public spending in Spain.
