Existing Home Sales (Jan.) Our projection is for existing home sales to climb 2.6% to a 4.73 million rate in January. The Pending Home Sales Index was 14.3% higher at the end of the year than in September, despite a small December drop, pointing to higher existing home sales during January and February.

In the morning, the President will deliver remarks at the construction site of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. The museum is scheduled to open in 2015 and will be the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, art, history and culture. The First Lady will also attend.
Later, the President and the First Lady will host a reception in honor of the groundbreaking of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in the East Room.
