The frozen power bill receipts that will go into effect starting in January (for both natural gas and butane) will not be extended to major companies because they will have to face additional costs created by increasing national gas reserves.
According to sources consulted by elEconomista, the biggest industrial consumers of gas will have to confront a strong increase in gas tariffs from January onward. The estimated increase is 14.4%.
In an economic report on the tariff, tolls are cited for a 4% increase for domestic and industrial use, considering that paying these additional amounts is not necessary at this time and, for the time being, neither the Spanish government nor the National Energy Commission have stated explicitly how they intend to pay for them going forward.
The Ministry of Industry, still lead by Miguel Sebastián, approved an order on November 17 of this year that changed natural gas reserve requirements from 10 days to 20 days.
