Public Administration debt ended the third quarter of this fiscal year with a small gain of 3.5 billion euros on last quarter. Percentage of the GDP remains the same at 66%. While the Central Administration?s debt grew by 11.7% year to year (12.1% if we account for public companies), regional government debt has increased by 22% (19.5% with public limited companies).
Public Administration debt reached a total amount of 706.34 billion euros by the end of September, a figure which is 66% of the Spanish GDP as stated above. For a basis of comparison, the last record year was in 1996 when the debt to GDP ratio was 67.4%.
Central Administration debt, including the companies depending on them, reached a level of 549 million euros during the same period of time, 517,000 of which align to the aforementioned administration and the rest to public companies.
The national debt to GDP ratio is 48.4%. Of the public company debt in Spain, the highest portion corresponds to AENA's 12.369 billion euros followed by GIF's 8.492 billion euros and Renfe's 5.122 billion euros.
