"Almost tied up." That is how a labor union leader defined the state of the agreements among social agents and concerning arbitration, absenteeism and mutual benefit societies, public holidays and training. A employers organization director stated that these are four points in labor reform negotiations that are "very far along and only a few loose ends need to be tied."
This would be the first package of reforms to loosen Spanish labor markets that the CEOE and labor unions have presented to the new government led by Mariano Rajoy before January 6 of next year, a term set by the Partido Popular leader.
The unions and CEOE could add another agreement to the package, which would cover breaking from indexing IPC salary increases and link compensation to productivity. In regard to the latter point, about which both parties agree, the difference lies in the fact that the labor unions are demanding productivity evaluators that would track performance each sector.
