Not delaying anymore and overcoming market panic, foreigners are flocking to Spain. They are drawn there by two of its main industries: tourism and shopping. The recovery of the tourism industry has been especially important; in August it hit a maximum historic monthly high after 7,640,819 international tourists visited the country. This figure marks a year-to-year growth of 9.4%, or 655,000 more tourists than the same period last year.
Recovery of the German marketplace, which grew 12.3%, joined with volume of trips connected to the Jornadas Mundiales and the Juventud Católica were the two main factors that propelled the new tourism record. Still, growth has been significant and generalized throughout principal tourism markets nationwide.
Germany has contributed most in absolute terms. The UK and France have also sent more tourist (7.7% and 8% increases, respectively). But more travelers are also originated from other places in Europe, such as Italy (10.5%), Switzerland (7.2%) and the Netherlands (6.4).
