Teddy Bautista has resigned from the SGAE a week after he fought hard to keep his position at the Spanish collection agency. He resigned from all of his roles and responsibilities without conditions. The 38 members of the organization met yesterday for the first time and accepted his resignation. Bautista had been accused of unlawfully appropriating funds after 34 years of service.
Among the agenda items of the meeting, the directors committee named members of the rectory commission. The commission will be comprised of Victor Manuel, Ernesto Caballero, Álvaro de Torres (editor), Imanol Uribe and Tomás Marco.
This unit will hold executive power and initiate an investigation to "vet out responsibilities" in the case of corruption. Its exact structure has not been confirmed, and the name of its president has not been publicized. "They don?t want to rush things. First we are going to talk about Sastrón´s candidacy," assured sources consulted by elEconomista.
Among the people being considered are: Miguel Satrústegui, assistant secretary of the Ministry of Culture during Jorge Semprún?s time in office; Manuel de Torres, the editorial group?s consideration; and Aldo Olcese, president of the Coalition of Creators and an enthusiastic spokesperson for the Ley Sinde (a Spanish internet download law).
Olcese and Satrústegui are the prime candidates to succeed Bautista.
