Generalitat appeals competición for Catalonian wind power contracts

The polemic concerning wind power contracts in the Spanish autonomous communities has worsened. The latest step has given the Catalonian autonomous government a reason to avoid something that will not be done, becuase precautionary suspensions are resurfacing despite the fact that more than 3 million euros are already invested in projects.

Companies that have already won bids, such as Fersa and Gas Natural Fenosa, see some relief in what the autonomous government are doing and believe that it's hardly possible that their contracts will be cancelled.

These groups stand in a firm position because the precautionary suspension is groundless. It is a petition from two ecological organization from Ampordá, a region in Catalonia. Still, a final decision is still up in the air and will be announced by the Catalonian tribunal, which is already examining a government appeal presided by Artur Mas.

The Generalitat knows that letting developing wind energy competition and bids is essential for realizing wind power goals set by the governments. So far 769 megawatts are already in play, a result made public last October, which were the final days of a government in coalition between the Spanish Socialist Workers Party-ERC coalition.
